WMP includes ten-band equalizer, radio tuner, supports skins and cool visualizations. Another cool feature is its SRS WOW Effects that lets you easily add more low-frequency audio ("TruBass") and ambiance (WOW Effect) to your music. However, WMP doesn't lets you save your CD tracks as .wav files and won't record MP3 files. Its only format option is the wma format and it lacks an auto-playlist feature. Overall, Windows Media Player has some useful features but lacks support for a common open standard.

Updates: Microsoft has released a free Bonus Pack includes an MP3 converter to WMA, new skins and visualizations, and a tool to convert Winamp skins into Windows Media Player skins. You can download it from WindowsMedia.com.
